The start-up offers a very small IoT radar operating in high resolution 60 GHz, communicating over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

The company specializing in radar imaging technologies, bitsensing, takes advantage of CES 2021 to exhibit its latest innovation. This is the mini-H, a miniature radar capable of capturing information at an angle of 120 ° and eager to break into the emerging market of connected health. The South Korean start-up, founded in 2018, unveiled its small telehealth object dedicated to intelligent and minimally intrusive surveillance.

A radar that even feels your pulse

The mini-H (H for Healthcare ) can be easily attached to the wall. Without wire or connection. Once installed and connected via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi to the dedicated application, it can detect any physical presence, movement, or breathing. It is also able to detect falls and measure breathing rate and pulse, without having to use cameras or other devices, and then trigger the appropriate reactions. All in real-time.

As an active technology that does not require light to function (radar puts us in the realm of radio waves, let’s not forget), the mini-H can work day or night and can pass through any clothing or sheet. A damp place also cannot stop it from working.

The vital data it captures allows real monitoring of its health through its application, which presents a table full of information, in addition to the fact that the tool is customizable. Its plug and play aspect greatly facilitates its use.

A fairly low range

Due to its 100 small grams and its very small size (5 x 5 x 1.5 cm), the mini-H radar, which operates in high resolution 60 GHz, has an active detection range of 20 cm to 2, 5 meters. This means that beyond 2.5 m, it is no longer effective, which leads to an increase in the number of radars for the same home.

This monitoring device, which can also be very useful for babies and the elderly, remains respectful of privacy since it does not capture an image. It is in line with what we can expect from a smart city in the future. On the other hand, we regret the lack of more detailed information about it, the first being the price, unknown for the moment.
