Since the appearance of the Internet, the web professions have become specialized. From IT to the network, including multimedia, design, communication and web marketing, there are now nearly 80, with very distinct profiles. And more and more specific training. 1- Bid manager
This is one of the new professions brought about by digital marketing. The bid manager is the guarantor of the optimization of auctions related to the management of marketing campaigns. “By using dedicated platforms, it manages the purchase of SEO keywords in order to optimize the exposure of these campaigns and their costs,” explains Aurélien Gilles, digital department manager within the Randstad group.
Education : Bac + 5 engineering school (IT), business school, master.
Salary: 50,000 euros per year.

2- Data steward
Coming from the data family, he is responsible for data quality. Its mission is to check the “data lakes” by identifying possible conflicts, the non-presence of duplicates as well as the freshness of said data. “Beyond these missions, he plays a particularly strategic role in communication between the different teams,” underlines Emmanuel Stanislas, founder of the recruitment firm Clémentine, specialist in digital and IT.
Education: Engineering or computer school, master's degree specializing in data science or artificial intelligence.
Salary: Between 40,000 and 65,000 euros per year depending on experience.
3- Cloud architect
A specialist in algorithms and programming, this cloud engineer is responsible for the storage and management of data located in data centers, outside the company. He intervenes to secure dematerialized data, but also, as an advisor to the company, in the choice of the model of external backup service provider (Iaas, Paas or Saas). "Once this is in place, the cloud architect supports users in their use and adaptation to new systems," explains Constance Ast, consultant at Robert Walters.
Education: Bac + 5 engineering school specializing in communication networks and IT.
Salary: 70,000 euros per year or 650 euros per day.

4- Chief revenue officer (CRO)
If his field of responsibility is close to that of the COO (director of operations, in French), his objective – to generate income to boost the growth of the company – is not the same. “It doesn't just define a strategy, but has a real operational dimension. It develops and optimizes the company's revenue by aligning all the functions that participate in it, particularly in the digital sphere ”, analyzes Christophe de Bueil, main digital practice at Heidrick & Struggles France.
Education: Business school or university master's degree. Ten years of business experience are essential.
Salary: between 120 and 250,000 euros.
5- Data scientist
Responsible for data management and analysis (big data), this profile, which is very attractive to recruiters, is responsible for collecting and processing millions of information. Beyond his function of data analyst, his mission is to make the data speak and to put it at the service of the management of his organization. "This recent job, but one that can be found in many sectors of activity, raises both functional and strategic issues", explains Emmanuel Stanislas, founder of the Clémentine recruitment firm.
Education: Master focused on data sciences (master data mining, master data management …), masters of science, engineering school.
Salary: Between 45,000 for a junior profile, up to 120,000 euros per year.

6- Head of growth
The “HoG” has a function relatively similar to that of the CRO (chief revenue officer), but adapted to smaller structures (start-ups, in particular). As such, it induces missions more focused on marketing, control and performance optimization in the service of business. “The HoG also works on many related topics, such as content creation or tracking. In addition, it works closely with the product teams ”, analyzes Christophe de Bueil, of Heidrick & Struggles.
Education: High school profile (commerce, engineer) with ten to fifteen years of experience.
Salary: between 70,000 and 130,000 euros per year.
7- Traffic manager
Its mission is to deploy campaigns on the Internet in order to amplify the reach of a company's activity online. Its role is extended to quantitative and qualitative analysis of traffic in order to increase the effectiveness of advertising campaigns on the Web. "The traffic manager generally works within a digital marketing team, in direct collaboration with the sales teams but also with the communication and the IT teams of the company", explains Emmanuel Stanislas, of the Clémentine recruitment firm.
Training: Bac + 2, + 3 or + 5 diploma. No typical diploma for this job except training in the Web environment.
Salary: 25,000 euros (junior), 45,000 euros (senior), 60,000 euros (expert).

8- Data analyst
Little brother of the data scientist on the business side, his profile is actively sought after on the job market. It helps companies analyze the immense amount of data (products, customers, performance, etc.) they collect. “Organizations gain valuable insight from analyzing this data to support their decision making and gain a competitive advantage in their markets,” says Olivia Jacob, senior finance, IT and digital manager at Robert Walters.
Training: Bac + 5 in statistics, IT or marketing, big data training.
Salary: 50,000 to 60,000 euros per year.

9- Chief technical officer (CTO)
Present within large groups and start-ups, the “director of new technologies” is responsible for innovation and technological deployment within the company. Its mission is to analyze the risks relating to these technologies in order to carry out development projects. “His influence is essential in the overall decision-making of the company. As such, he sits on the management committee, ”emphasizes Emmanuel Stanislas, from the Clémentine recruitment firm.
Education: Bac + 5 in engineering school.
Salary: 60,000 euros (junior), 120,000 euros (senior), 180,000 euros (expert).
10- Information systems security manager (RSSI)
Analyzing, diagnosing, preventing and protecting, the missions of the person responsible for the security of information systems are essential in a context where computer attacks are on the increase. The RSSI defines the information system security policy, manages its implementation and carries out constant technological and regulatory monitoring. “Within the management committee, he supports, alerts, advises and raises awareness of issues related to computer security,” underlines Philippe Fernandes, consultant at Robert Walters.
Education: Bac + 5, master or school in computer science.
Salary: 65,000 to 70,000 euros (four to five years of experience), 130,000 euros (more than ten years of experience).

11- Growth hacker
The mission of this profession, recently unloaded from the United States, is to trigger the "accelerated growth" of a start-up or a product by creating its reputation and an influx of traffic. “He's a mass prospector. If its overall mission is generally considered in the short term, its involvement in a project or in a company can also be seen in the longer term, ”points out Emmanuel Stanislas.
Training: No specific diploma, but in-depth knowledge of the Web environment (trends, news, software, accessible online tools, etc.).
Salary: 35,000 euros (junior), 45,000 to 50,000 euros (senior), 65,000 euros (expert).

12- Chief product officer (CPO)
This function is especially present within pure players, because of the digital maturity necessary to position it in an organization chart. Grappling with all business challenges, he wants to be the guarantor of the entire product vision, of which he defines the strategy on the basis of data analysis. He is also in charge of the functional analysis of product interactions with users and of building a medium-term vision. "He must anticipate the global horizon of the above product to one or two years in order to prepare the offer that will succeed him", notes Christophe de Bueil, of Heidrick & Struggles.
Education: Bac + 5 from a high school (engineers or commerce) or a university, followed by ten years of experience in a business.
Salary: Between 100,000 and 180,000 euros
13- Chief marketing & digital officer (CMDO)
"More and more in so-called traditional companies, it is customary to entrust the reins of classic marketing (retail) to a digital profile, rather than to a salesperson or a communicator", points out Christophe de Bueil. The CMDO will instill a perfectly coherent global strategy between digital, e-commerce, and more traditional marketing issues (stores, media investments, offers, customers).
Education: Business, engineering or digital communication school.
Salary: Between 150,000 and 180,000 euros.

14- Data architect
He organizes the entire data architecture of the company and works in close collaboration with the digital director to organize, retrieve, manage and store both business and corporate data. “This profile has often started his career as a data scientist. He has a perfect command of the main data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, etc.) as well as the dedicated development languages ”, underlines Olivia Jacob, of Robert Walters, who specifies that the big data architect intervenes in the B to C sector. -Internet, “sector for which the collection of customer data is essential and massive”.
Education: Bac + 5 (engineering or computer school).
Salary: 80,000 to 90,000 euros per year.
15- Chief transformation officer (CTO)
The CTO's mission is to transform the organization in depth, using different levers (of which digital and IT are part), in a high-level and long-term project logic. “These positions are filled by highly qualified and experienced candidates, including former strategy consultants. They must be able to benefit from a high level of versatility and an ability to initiate a global transformation plan, by aligning all the teams so that this operation can be correctly applied at all levels of the company ”, Christophe de Bueil analyzes .
Education: MBA, grandes écoles (HEC, Sciences Po, ESCP, Centrale, etc.), foreign training such as Stanford or Berkeley + ten years of experience.
Salary: between 180,000 and 250,000 euros.

16- UX-UI designer
Web-related technologies are constantly generating new qualifications for the profession of web designer. If the UI designer takes care of the general design of the user interface, the clarity of navigation and the quality of the content, his UX counterpart manages a more strategic mission, that of inserting storytelling into a user experience in order to to create emotion in the Internet user. “These professionals are both very good technicians and programmers, but also creative and imaginative profiles,” analyzes Pauline L'Huillier, freelance, IT and digital recruitment consultant at Robert Walters.
Initial training: Bac + 4 or Bac + 5 in IT, management, statistics or marketing.
Salary: 42,000 euros per year or 550 euros per day.
Digital technology, a seemingly inexhaustible reservoir of jobs!
While the health crisis seriously shook the labor market, the National Digital Council (CNNum) published 15 strategic recommendations on September 8. Objective: revive the digital sector and help companies facing a talent shortage in this sector. According to the CNNum report, 1.75 million new jobs are expected by 2030 in the field of information and communication technologies. The measures target young people in particular.
E-commerce needs arms
With the Covid-19 pandemic soaring demand for products online, tens of thousands of job offers are available in this sector. At the end of September, the QAPA interim recruitment platform listed 25,000 for “sorting agents and order pickers”. With 16,000 listings, IT developers were among the most sought after positions. E-commerce sites are also looking for sales profiles, with 7,000 advertisements for customer relations jobs, and 3,000 for telemarketers and telemarketers.
