Microsoft has just announced the upcoming release of Office 2021. The new version of the office suite will be available for Windows and macOS in two versions, one intended for the general public and SMEs and the other, known as LTSC (Long Term Servicing Channel) for corporate customers meeting specific criteria. Like Office 2019, Office 2021 will have a perpetual license for users who do not want to subscribe to Microsoft 365, the cloud version of Office. A first Preview of Office 2021 LTSC should be offered during the month of April.
Microsoft has given very few details about the new features in Office 2021. For now, we just know that Office 2021 LTSC was designed for very specific situations: it is intended primarily for machines that cannot be updates for long periods of time, for example on production lines, where no Internet connection is available. Microsoft says it will be supported for five years.
As for Office 2021 for the general public and SMEs, it will also be supported for a period of five years with a definitive purchase model. The price of this new version of Office will remain the same, with the perpetual license currently sold for € 299.
